Learn SEO or Train Yourself? Which is better?

July 25th, 2010 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Uncategorized

If you have a website or business you are likely wondering whether it is worth outsourcing your Colorado SEO work to an agency and just how easy it is to do yourself. This is a very good question.

There are some advantages of outsourcing your Denver SEO work if you do it properly however in order to understand what is needed you need to learn about SEO yourself.

There are 2 areas to having your website ranking well. The first is the on-site factors which concern how your site is structured and where you place the most important words on your web pages.

The other area of Boulder SEO , is off-site, which is about the strategies you can use to get visibility for your content. There are right and wrong ways of doing this.

And underpinning both of the above is a good understanding of keyword research. There are many keyword research tools which you can use to find out what your customers are searching for, and they don’t cost you anything.

Many people still think that Denver SEO is for “geeks” and web developers but actually it is more of a marketing skill. It is all about getting visibility for your product or services.

SEO is also not just about getting listed in the standard web results. You will have noticed on the first page of major search engines, there are also blog results, news results, local search results, product results, video results and more.

You can double or triple your visibility by tailoring your search campaign to target more than one channel.

Therefore to get good search visibility you need to do an SEO training course so you can either do the work yourself if you are up to it, or else to understand what you need to outsource.

You also have to be careful on outsourcing because if you get a person who does not know best practice, you can destroy your company image or brand.

There are a lot of companies which spam you about building 1000 links to your site for little money, but how you build your links is very important.

It is much better to get natural links developing and pointing into your site by the types of off-site SEO strategy you decide to implement, rather than pay someone for links.

So if you have spent a lot of money and time on your website it is a very good idea to get a basic SEO training.

If your business relies on online traffic then it is probably worth taking your knowledge to the next level by attending a SEO training workshop / event or by doing some training over webinar if you can’t make the event.

You can often get a lot more out of attending a search marketing workshop because you get the chance to ask questions about your own site, something you can’t usually get from an online SEO course.

What is Denver SEO?

July 13th, 2010 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Google / SEO

Denver SEO aka SEO stands for Denver Search Engine Optimization. What this entails is making your website standout before others in various search engines such as Google. Advertising on the internet has become the most effective and popular means of advertising in recent years. Billions of people use the internet, so having your product or website smartly marketed through the internet will be the key to bringing in customers. What can a Denver SEO  Company do for you is maximize how a search engine will work for you.

When someone is researching on the internet, typically they will go to a search engine and type in whatever they are looking for. Well the words they type will pull up multiple links. The top links are the ones that have the most in common with the initial search. When you use SEO in Denver, the keywords that are typed into the search engine that people use will link to common words on your website, making your website one of the top search results. The strategy of using SEO is over a long period of time, the popularity of your website will increase from people searching with the common words selected, making your product show above others as time passes.

Most people searching and browsing on the internet are impatient. The internet is a fast paced tool, and people don’t tend to browse through pages and pages of search results, but typically just choose a few of the top ones. This makes having your website at the top of the list a priority. It is how you use internet marketing to it’s maximum.

What an SEO Expert Should Know

December 29th, 2009 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Google / SEO

Sean Hakes, a Denver SEO Trainer for SEO Training Denver.com wrote a great article on his blog this week that indicated some things that  he considered necessary to be considered a SEO Expert. Here are are some snippets from his blog – you can read the entire  store defining what an SEO Expert should know here.

Alright  – I am going to play a bit of ‘copy cat.’  The term “SEO Expert” is loosely thrown out there similar to “Social Media Expert.” What really defines an expert – does anyone know?

I personally believe that the term “SEO Expert” is a joke and is overused – and because of that I need to include in some places in my blog to attract those who are uneducated about the term to my blog and services.

This is how I would start to define what a SEO Expert should know:

  • How to pick your blogging software, configure a database, and  install on a hosting package.
  • How to edit side bars, footer, widgets all via HTML & CSS
  • Install & Read Analytic performance software
  • Be proficient in writing and  editing HTML, CSS, and XML without a reference  book
  • How to edit a .htaccess file and basic understanding of mod_rewrite & Linux
  • Understand and know how to write a 301 & 302 redirect when appropriate
  • How to write (from scratch) a URL Rewrite (Permalinks) via .htaccess
  • Understand the value of Internal Links vs. External
  • How to use rel=”nofollow” and when it’s appropriate
  • Understand all SEO Jargon without looking
  • Be able to understand and comprehend Google Trends & Analytical Data to better serve the website owners visitors.
  • Able to comprehend and act on User Experience Testing
  • Understand the in-and out’s of Google Local Maps.
